Job Description

Role context, responsibilities, and expectations.

Hi, I’m George.

I run a boutique post-production studio that specializes in premium branded podcasts, high-end trailers, and short-form social clips. I’ve edited for over 10 years and worked with brands like Disney, Meta, Nike, and the NFL. But while I am looking for someone who will edit podcasts, my goal here is to find a strong video editor and podcast experience is not necessary.

I also love riding bikes, I’m a huge basketball fan, and I care deeply about great storytelling. Right now, I’m recovering from a bike accident (yes, the irony is not lost on me), and I’m looking to bring on a freelance video editor to help carry the load and ideally grow into something longer-term.

Spoiler: To be considered, please make sure to follow the instructions below. It helps me get a clear sense of how we’ll work together.
_____________

What Matters Most

Brand always comes first.

Every cut we make should serve the feel, tone, and message of the brand behind it. You won’t just be editing clips but you’ll be helping shape how that brand is experienced.
____________

What You'll Be Editing

– Long-form podcast video episodes
– High-end trailers that grab attention
– Elevated short-form social clips (vertical and horizontal)
– Occasional branded content for web or social
– All edits will start with organized assets: transcripts, notes, footage, music suggestions, fonts, and graphic templates

___________

What I’m Looking For

Someone who can:

– Cut a clean, polished long-form podcast episode with flow and rhythm
– Know when to remove parts that don't serve the greater conversation (so solid English comprehension is vital)
– Build on-brand YouTube podcast edits using provided layouts; split screens, punch-ins, lower-thirds, and so on
– Add motion graphics when needed, whether using my graphics kit or creating your own lightweight animations
– Select 1 to 3 compelling short clips per episode using current best practices for social content
– Keep your Premiere project organized… I’m serious about this. I like bins, labels, color codes. The inside of your project should look as good as the final export =]
– Communicate well. I love discussing ideas and creative decisions, and I’m happiest working with editors who want to talk things through and improve the product together
___________

Bonus Points If You:

– Have edited video podcasts before
– You like riding bikes or basketball
– Are confident in After Effects or Photoshop
– Have agency experience
– Are the kind of person who loves improving your craft and learning as you go - I'm hopeful to learn from you too!
_____________

Tools We Use

– Adobe Premiere Pro
– Adobe After Effects
– Photoshop
– Dropbox (I’ll add you to my team, though having your own account is a plus)
– ClickUp (for task management)
Frame.io (for revisions and feedback)

You’ll need a solid Mac or PC that can handle 4K multicam files, and strong internet for large file transfers.
_____________

This Might Be a Fit If You:

– Want to collaborate with someone who’s edited professionally for years and understands the work
– Value creative trust and want to be part of thoughtful conversations about how to improve things
– Like clean expectations, clear feedback, and a rhythm to your workflow
– Are looking for consistent freelance work that can grow month-to-month
_____________

This is probably **not** for you if:
– You’ve never led editing projects on your own from start to finish
– You’re not confident working in Adobe Premiere Pro (and ideally After Effects too)
– You tend to leave messy project files and disorganized timelines
– your English is not **very** strong
– You’re uncomfortable receiving rounds of revision notes or discussing ways to improve an edit
_____________

This is Freelance to Start

We’ll begin with individual projects, but my goal is to build something long-term with the right person.
_____________

To Apply

Please include:
– 2 to 3 samples of your best editing work (podcasts or branded content preferred)
– A sentence or two about the kind of editing you most enjoy
– Which bonus points you have
– Your weekly availability
– Your rate in USD

If this sounds like a good fit, I’m excited to talk.

– George
