Network Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Network Engineer to lead and support network-focused infrastructure projects in a Microsoft-centric MSP environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on experience in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and secure network design.

The Senior Network Technician will focus on building, improving, and maintaining client network environments while ensuring solutions are secure, well-documented, and aligned with best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement network infrastructure projects for MSP clients  
• Configure and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking environments 
• Manage and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points 
• Assess client network environments and recommend improvements 
• Ensure network solutions follow security best practices for SMB and mid-market clients 
• Document network configurations, changes, processes, and client environments 
• Work closely with the vCIO, Service Desk, and project teams to deliver seamless client support 
• Communicate project updates, technical recommendations, and implementation plans clearly to clients and internal teams 
• Participate in after-hours support rotation when needed 

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of progressive experience in networking, IT infrastructure, systems administration, or MSP environments 
• Strong experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking 
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and related network infrastructure 
• Strong understanding of network security, segmentation, access control, and best practices 
• Experience leading or heavily contributing to network projects and implementations 
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues independently 
• Strong documentation and knowledge management skills 
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills 
• MSP experience is strongly preferred
